US attack on Iran’s strategically important Chabahar port has been claimed. US War Secretary Pete Hegseth shared a photo of the attack and said that the port’s Maritime Traffic Control Tower was completely destroyed.
Chabahar port was targeted in the attacks carried out by the US Army in the southern coastal areas of Iran. According to the report, Shaheed Beheshti and Kalantari Ghats were also damaged in the attack.
Iranian state media IRIB and IRNA also confirmed the attack on Chabahar port. At the same time, Mohammad Saeed Arbabi, head of Chabahar Free Zone Organization, has also informed about the destruction of the control tower.
This action is said to be America’s first military action after the ceasefire with Iran was broken. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), about 90 Iranian military targets were targeted during the strikes, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance equipment and naval infrastructure.
Chabahar port is also a very important strategic project for India. It is a major route providing sea access to India to Afghanistan and Central Asia. There is a huge investment from India in this port and it is considered important in terms of regional trade and connectivity.
