Maruti Suzuki Statement: Now there is a new twist in the famous case to E20 petrol. Let us tell you that after the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, ordered Maruti Suzuki India to give a new E20-fuel compatible car to the complainant within 45 days, the company has announced to challenge this decision. In this case, the Commission had said in its order that if the company does not provide a new car within the stipulated time, then it will have to return the price of the vehicle of Rs 20,50,494. Along with this, other compensation was also ordered. However, now Maruti Suzuki says that some important facts were not given sufficient attention in the Commission’s decision.
Evidence of adulteration found in fuel
For information, Maruti Suzuki said in its official statement, ‘We have come to know about an order of Raipur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. In this, Maruti Suzuki has been instructed to replace the customer’s vehicle with a new E20 compatible vehicle. The car involved in this case was E20 compatible, fully prepared for the use of E20 fuel and this information was also provided in the owner’s manual.”
The company further said, ‘Evidence of adulteration has been found in the fuel taken from the customer’s vehicle. Many other important facts have also not been taken into account in the order. Maruti Suzuki will take necessary steps to challenge this order before the appropriate higher forum as per law. Maruti Suzuki is fully committed to quality, safety and customer satisfaction through robust engineering, processes and systems.”
What is the whole matter?
It has been seen so far that the complainant had alleged that after using E20 petrol in the car, the engine started malfunctioning continuously. The performance of the vehicle decreased and despite getting it repaired at an authorized service center several times, the problem did not go away. The consumer claims that the engine problem started after using E20 petrol and continued. On this basis, he lodged a complaint with the Consumer Commission, after which the Commission gave its verdict in favor of the consumer.
What will happen next now?
Now, after the announcement of challenging the decision of Maruti Suzuki, this matter may reach a higher platform. In such a situation, the final decision will depend on the next hearing of the court and the evidence presented by both the parties. This matter is also considered important because E20 petrol is being promoted in the country. In such a situation, this dispute may also impact matters to fuel, vehicle technology and consumer rights in the future.
