New Delhi [भारत]July 16 (ANI): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday suspended three of its councilors for cross-voting in the MCD ward committee elections held on Wednesday. This information was given in the press release issued by the party.

Giving information about this action on X, AAP's Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that Nirmala Devi Sharma and Krishna Devi Raghav from West Zone, and Sultana Azad from City SP Zone have been suspended with immediate effect. He said that this action has given a clear message that betrayal of the public mandate and the party will not be tolerated at any cost.

Loss caused by cross-voting in two zones

Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in MCD Ankush Narang said, "During the ward committee elections held on Wednesday, two cross-votes were cast in the election for the post of chairman in West Delhi zone. Aam Aadmi Party had 13 votes, but we got only 11 votes, which means two of our councilors cross-voted. As a result, we have elected Nirmala Devi Sharma and Krishna Devi Raghav has been suspended from ward number 116 with immediate effect.

Narang further said that even in the City SP zone, Sultana Azad did not vote for the Aam Aadmi Party, due to which the City SP zone went out of the hands of AAP. "Therefore, Sultana Azad has also been suspended from the party with immediate effect," the release said.

The party gave a stern warning, said – there is no place for traitors

Narang said that AAP's message is very clear, traitors will not be allowed to stay in the party. He stressed, "Anyone who betrays the Aam Aadmi Party or cross-votes against the party will be shown the door. Elections are not fought by individual candidates; they are fought by AAP. This betrayal is directly an action against AAP, and will not be condoned under any circumstances."

Narang further said that taking immediate action, Delhi State President of the party Saurabh Bhardwaj has expelled these councilors from the party. He warned that if in future any other councilor even thinks of betraying AAP, he too will be immediately shown the door. (ANI)
