Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has introduced a new paid data service called Truth API, aimed at providing banks, trading firms, and financial institutions with expedited access to posts from Truth Social. This marks TMTG's initial foray into the data licensing sector. The service is tailored for organizations that depend on real-time information for making financial decisions, allowing subscribers to view posts from some of the platform's most prominent accounts before they are sent out via standard notifications.
Enhancing Speed for Financial Markets
TMTG claims that Truth API will initially offer real-time access to posts from the top 10 influential accounts on the platform, enabling clients to receive updates within seconds of their publication. This service is primarily targeted at algorithmic trading firms, investment companies, and financial institutions, where even minor delays in receiving critical information can lead to significant financial repercussions. Currently, many firms are manually monitoring Truth Social, which can result in delays that Truth API aims to resolve.
Market Impact of Trump's Posts
Interim CEO Kevin McGurn noted that Truth Social has increasingly become a vital source of market-moving information, particularly due to President Donald Trump's frequent announcements regarding policy changes on the platform. According to reports, McGurn anticipates that Truth API will evolve into a consistent revenue stream as more institutional clients subscribe.
Launch Details
Truth API is set to operate continuously, providing ongoing access to live posts and an archive of Truth Social content dating back to 2022, allowing subscribers to search through historical posts. TMTG has already secured clients ahead of the official launch on August 1.
Current Subscribers
In discussions with media outlets, McGurn revealed that several financial news organizations and high-frequency trading firms have already signed up for the service, although he did not disclose their names. Accounts available through Truth API include:
- President Donald Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
- The White House
- FBI Director Kash Patel
- White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino
- Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
McGurn also mentioned that additional premium subscription tiers may eventually allow access to more accounts on Truth Social.
Addressing Data Scraping Issues
The company has expressed concerns about unauthorized data scraping of Truth Social, which violates the platform's terms of service. McGurn stated that TMTG plans to make such unauthorized activities significantly more challenging, asserting that the official API will provide quicker, more reliable, and compliant access to platform data.
Broader Business Expansion
According to reports, Truth API is part of TMTG's strategy to diversify its business beyond advertising revenue. Since going public in 2024, the company has ventured into subscription services, streaming through Truth+, financial products, and bitcoin-related initiatives. McGurn also mentioned ongoing discussions with AI companies to license Truth Social data for training large language models, a strategy already employed by platforms like X and Reddit. TMTG believes that data licensing could become a significant long-term revenue source as the demand for real-time social media information continues to rise.
