Delhi Police has arrested a head constable of its own department from the notorious Tillu Tajpuria gang.Tillu Tajpuria Gang) and demanding extortion worth crores of rupees. The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar alias Makki, who was posted in the reserve battalion of Delhi Police. According to the police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was involved in an alleged conspiracy to threaten businessmen by using the name of the gang and extorting crores of rupees from them. After the matter came to light, Delhi Police arrested the accused and started further investigation.
This action has taken place at a time when Delhi Police is already keeping a close watch on the activities of Tillu Tajpuria gang. In view of the gang’s activity in recent months, the police and other investigating agencies have intensified action against its network. According to the police, in the same year Tillu Tajpuria gang had carried out two attacks on people associated with its rival Gogi gang. Following these incidents, investigating agencies began a thorough investigation into the gang’s network, associates and alleged economic activities.
Controversy started after deal for 3200 square yard plot
According to police sources, on June 27, a businessman had lodged a complaint that protection money of Rs 2 crore was being demanded from him. After receiving the complaint, the police started investigating the matter. Delhi Police head constable Pawan Kumar alias Makki was arrested after the allegations were confirmed on the basis of CCTV footage, electronic evidence and other technical inputs.
According to the FIR, this entire matter started in December 2025. The business partner of the complainant had purchased a plot of about 3,200 square yards near Khatu Shyam Mandir on GT Karnal Road. A loan of Rs 50 lakh was taken for this land deal, which was allegedly arranged by Pawan Kumar. According to the complaint, by April the entire loan amount was returned along with interest. However, later when the price of the land increased to around Rs 7 crore, the accused allegedly started pressurizing the businessman and demanded extortion.
Accused of demanding extortion money of Rs 2 crore from businessman
Police investigation has revealed that accused Pawan Kumar alias Makki had allegedly claimed that the loan given to the businessman was the money of gangster Himmat alias Cheeki. It is alleged that he told the businessman that he would have to give Rs 2 crore to the gang out of the profit made on selling the land. According to the complaint, the accused also allegedly threatened that if the agreed amount was not paid, the businessman would have to pay an additional Rs 2 lakh per day. It has also been alleged in the FIR that on June 1, Pawan Kumar reached the businessman’s house with his 5 armed associates. The businessman was not present at home at that time. It is alleged that after this the accused and his associates threatened the businessman’s wife and children of dire consequences.
Allegation of using extortion money for gang’s expenses
According to the FIR, the accused had allegedly told the businessman that the extortion money would be used for the legal expenses of gang member Amit alias Dabang, lodged in Tihar jail, and the expenses of gangster Himmat alias Cheeki, who is absconding abroad. It has been said in the complaint that due to the continuous threats he was receiving, the businessman left Delhi for some time. According to the FIR, on June 5, accused Pawan Kumar once again reached the businessman’s house. It is alleged that during this time he had covered his face. After this, on June 16, another youth reached the businessman’s house and allegedly made him talk to gang member Jitendra, lodged in Tihar Jail, on mobile phone and again pressurized him to pay the extortion money.
According to police sources, a case of extortion is also registered against the arrested head constable Pawan Kumar alias Makki in Sonipat, Haryana. At present, the investigating agencies are deeply investigating his bank accounts, mobile phone, financial transactions and other alleged gang- contacts.
Old rivalry between Tillu Tajpuria and Gogi gang
The enmity between Tillu Tajpuria and Jitendra Gogi gang in Delhi is counted among the most famous gang wars of the capital. According to the police, it started with student politics, but with time it extended to extortion, land grabbing and other organized crimes. Major incidents of this gang war include the murder of Jitendra Gogi in Rohini Court complex in September 2021 and the murder of Tillu Tajpuria inside Tihar Jail in May 2023. After these incidents, Delhi Police and other agencies have continuously intensified action against the networks of both the gangs.
