Vietnam stretches more than 1,600 kilometers from the mountainous north to the Mekong Delta in the south, encompassing historic cities, coastlines and highland destinations.

For international visitors, traveling between multiple destinations often involves navigating different booking systems, language barriers and fragmented transport services.

Vexere consolidates bus, train and flight bookings on an English-language platform, allowing users to search, compare and book different transport options in one place.

The platform provides real-time availability, fare information and electronic tickets, enabling travelers to arrange transportation before arriving in Vietnam. E-tickets are delivered electronically, while QR codes can be used for boarding on supported services.

Rail travel: low-cost, scenic alternative

With domestic airfares rising by 35-55% during Vietnam’s peak summer travel season and reaching levels similar to Lunar New Year on some routes, Vietnam railways have become an alternative for some travelers weighing cost and convenience.

On the Hanoi-Da Nang route, sleeper berths start at around VND1.2 million (US$47). Overnight train services may also reduce accommodation costs by allowing passengers to travel while sleeping.

When airport transfers, baggage fees and waiting times are considered, the overall cost difference between air and rail travel may narrow on medium-distance routes.

Rail travel is generally competitive on journeys of less than 800 kilometers, while flights remain the faster option for routes exceeding 1,000 kilometers. Travelers are advised to book flights at least three weeks in advance during peak periods to secure lower fares.

According to Vexere, booking transport around 30 days in advance and taking advantage of off-peak promotions can reduce travel costs by up to 20%.

Beyond transportation, several rail routes have become attractions in their own right.

The Da Nang-Hue railway, which passes through the Hai Van Pass overlooking the East Sea, is among Vietnam’s best-known scenic train journeys. According to Vexere, interest in the route has increased by around 30% year-on-year as more international visitors seek travel experiences that combine transportation with sightseeing. Seats on popular summer services can sell out quickly.

Further north, the overnight Hanoi to Sapa train (via Lao Cai, the main rail gateway to Sa Pa) remains a popular option. Travelers depart Hanoi in the evening and arrive in Lao Cai the following morning before continuing by road to Sa Pa.

Planning multi-destination itineraries

Vietnam’s geography allows visitors to combine different modes of transportation within a single trip. Travelers may, for example, arrive in Hanoi by air, continue south by train through Hue and Da Nang, and depart from Ho Chi Minh City.

Combining flights with rail or road transport allows visitors to balance travel time with opportunities to experience scenic routes.

Vexere enables users to compare departure times and fares across different transport modes and complete bookings through a single platform.

According to the company, the service may be particularly useful for families traveling with young children or elderly relatives by allowing transportation to be arranged in advance rather than at ticket counters.

Domestic train bookings for summer 2026 are projected to increase by around 25% from a year earlier, reflecting growing interest among both domestic and international travelers in rail travel, according to Vexere.

Transport services on popular routes can sell out quickly during public holidays and peak travel seasons.

Travelers planning to take trains through the Hai Van Pass, for example are advised to book at least two weeks in advance, while flight tickets are generally recommended to be purchased at least three weeks before departure to reduce the likelihood of higher fares.

Vexere accepts international payment cards and provides electronic tickets for supported transport services, allowing travelers to complete bookings without a Vietnamese bank account or local SIM card.
