New Delhi: Actor Addinath M Kothare and Urmilla Kanetkar have announced their separation after nearly 15 years of marriage. One of Marathi cinema’s most loved couples, Urmila and Adinath, shared a joint statement on Instagram on Thursday (July 16).
They confirmed that they will co-parent their daughter, Jizah, and further requested privacy as they step into a new chapter of their lives.
Urmila and Addinath announce divorceThe official statement read, “To our friends, media, and well-wishers, After much thought and consideration, Urmilla Kanetkar and I, Addinath M. Kothare, have mutually and amicably decided to part ways as partners. While our journey as a couple has ended, our commitment to our daughter, Jizah, remains absolute. She is our utmost priority. We are happily and dedicatedly co-parenting her to ensure she grows up surrounded by love, security, and support.”
“We hold the deepest mutual respect for one another and the years we shared. We are incredibly grateful to the media and the public for the immense love and support you have given us over the years, and we sincerely hope and pray that you will continue to bless us with the same as we step into this new chapter of our lives,” they added.
They concluded the statement saying, “In this spirit, we kindly request our friends in the media and the public to respect our privacy. This will be our only statement on this matter, and we will not be commenting further. Thank you for your continued warmth and understanding.”

Meanwhile, rumours about the trouble in paradise were circulating on social media for months. A few reports claimed that the two have been living separately since late 2025. Addressing the rumours, Urmila once said in an interview that she doesn’t give importance to “toxic” conversations on social media and people shouldn’t believe everything they read online.
How did the relationship begin?Adinath Kothare and Urmila Kothare met on the sets of Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan in 2006 and fell in love. They tied the knot in 2011 and welcomed their daughter Jizah in 2018.
Who are Urmila and Adinath KothareUrmila made her acting debut with Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, directed by Adinath’s father, Mahesh Kothare. She went on to feature in films, including Duniyadari, Mala Aai Vhhaychy!, and Ti Saddya Kay Karte, along with projects in Hindi and Telugu cinema.
Adinath continued to make his mark as an actor and filmmaker and became one of the most recognised names in Marathi cinema. Some of his notable works include Paani (2024), Panchak (2024), 83 (2021), 15 August, Nilkanth Master, Ishq Wala Love, Hello Nandan, Zapatlela 2, Satrangi Re, Dubhang, Stand By, Ved Lavi Jeeva, and others.
He will be next seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he will portray the role of Bharat. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.
