On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the Mangala Aarti at the renowned Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad. This event coincided with the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Beej and the 149th Rath Yatra. Shah, along with Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, performed the rituals with deep reverence. The Rath Yatra, celebrated annually on Ashadhi Beej, features Lord Jagannath, his sister Subhadra, and brother Balabhadra parading through the city, blessing devotees with their divine presence. Prior to the procession, Shah and his family participated in the Mangala Aarti and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath.

During this significant event, the head priest of the Ahmedabad Jagannath Temple, Dilipdasji, along with numerous saints and a large gathering of devotees, were present. This celebration symbolizes an important tradition of faith not only for Ahmedabad but for the entire state of Gujarat. Additionally, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to devotees across the nation and abroad on the occasion of the Mahaprabhu Jagannath Rath Yatra. In a post on 'X', she described the event as "truly unique" and emphasized its importance in promoting spirituality, culture, and unity. In the official statement from the President, it was noted that on the auspicious occasion of Mahaprabhu's Rath Yatra, heartfelt greetings were extended to all devotees of Shri Jagannath worldwide. It is believed that during this sacred procession, Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath, along with Chakra Raja Sudarshan, elder brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra, comes out to meet the devotees.
