LPG Cylinder: While gas flowing from an LPG cylinder is normal, it would be shocking if water started coming out instead. A similar incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh. Here are the details.

LPG Cylinder: Most households use LPG cylinders for cooking. A family typically needs one every month to a month and a half. However, imagine cooking one day and having water pour out of the cylinder instead of gas—naturally, anyone would be startled. Such an incident occurred in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where a user alleged that water, not gas, came out of their cylinder. Upon receiving the complaint, the Food Department investigated the matter.

What is the full story?

According to reports, a customer of the Shiv Chhaya Gas Agency in Indore had booked a domestic LPG cylinder. After delivery, the cylinder was used for about four days before water suddenly started flowing out from inside it. The user immediately contacted the gas agency and lodged a complaint.

Action taken by the Food Department

The matter was investigated, and the District Food Officer arranged for the user's cylinder to be replaced after the complaint was received. Officials noted that similar complaints had surfaced during March and April. The investigation revealed that the issue originated with the oil company; however, the cylinders of all affected users were replaced following the complaints.

Keep these important points in mind.

Thoroughly inspect the cylinder at the time of delivery.
Ensure the cylinder's seal is intact.
It is also advisable to check the weight of the cylinder.
Do not use the cylinder if you hear strange noises coming from inside it.
Similarly, do not use the cylinder if you notice any issues related to water.
Contact the concerned gas agency if you encounter any problems. Do not be negligent in such cases and immediately lodge a complaint with the Food Department.
