Weather will worsen again in 22 states including Delhi, UP and Bihar, alert issued for heavy rain for next 7 days; Clouds hovered over Puri Rath Yatra too

New Delhi: Monsoon is going to become active once again in many parts of the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of rain, strong winds and heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas in 22 states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha, Jharkhand and Northeast India for the next few days.

According to the Meteorological Department, due to the low pressure area formed in the North-West Bay of Bengal, rainfall activities will increase rapidly. Its effect can also be seen on Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra to be organized in Puri, where there is a possibility of cloudy sky and rain.

Effect of rain for next 7 days

The Meteorological Department says that due to the strengthening of the low pressure area, there may be good rain in Eastern India, North-Eastern states, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Western Himalayan regions for the next seven days. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places, which may create waterlogging and flood like situations in low-lying areas.

Special vigilance in Bihar, UP and Odisha

There is a possibility of continuous rain in Bihar between 16th and 20th July. At the same time, there may be rain with thunder in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain for Odisha. There has also been a warning of excessive rainfall in some areas.

Chance of rain in these states also

Rain activities are expected to intensify in many states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh. At some places, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.

Effect of weather on Rath Yatra

There are signs of changing weather during the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri. There is a possibility of cloudy sky and intermittent rain. In such a situation, devotees and administration have been advised to take necessary precautions in view of the weather.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary travel, stay in safe places during bad weather and follow the guidelines issued by the local administration. In areas where warning of heavy rain has been issued, there is a need to be cautious of waterlogging and flood-like situations.
