Every year on 15 August, the Prime Minister addresses the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. During this time, only people holding passes issued by the government are allowed to enter the function and tight security is in place throughout the complex.
Shutdown for 30 days from 2022
This is not the first time that such a decision has been taken. Even before this, for the first time in the year 2022, due to security reasons, the Red Fort was kept closed for 30 days, apart from this it was also closed for 30 days in 2025. During this time, only those people get entry for this function who have issued passes and follow such protocols amid tight security.
