Sonam Wangchuk remained on fast for the 19th day, said – ‘I am not going to die so soon’; Appeal to the public to reach Parliament on 20th July

New Delhi, 16 July. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding constitutional security for Ladakh and other demands, issued an emotional message to the countrymen late on Wednesday night. Wednesday is the 19th day of his fast. Sharing an update on his health, Wangchuk said that his medical reports are normal and he is currently in a position to continue his fast. He also appealed to a large number of people to reach Parliament on July 20 and support the movement.

‘What will change by breaking the fast?’

In a video message released on social media, Sonam Wangchuk said that she is receiving messages from thousands of people, senior citizens and many political leaders from across the country asking her to end her fast. Some people have also demanded intervention from the court. Wangchuk said, “Even if I eat food, what will it change? The message it will send to the government is that there is no need for accountability. People sit on dharna and then get up and leave on their own.”

Sonam said – ‘Medical report is normal, I can continue the fast now’ Giving information about his health, Wangchuk assured his supporters that his condition is not serious at the moment. He said, “My condition is not such that I will die in two-four days. Medical checkups are being done continuously and my reports are quite normal as per the fast of 18 days. There is weakness in the body, muscles are decreasing, but the heart is working properly. I can continue this fast for many more days.”

Appeal to reach Parliament on 20th July

Sonam Wangchuk appealed to the people for active participation in the movement instead of just advising them to end the fast. He said, “On July 20, all of you come here with a large number of MPs, so that a strong message reaches the government. When this issue reaches the Parliament strongly, then I will also be confident that the battle of Ladakh is in the right hands.”

Monsoon session from July 20, call for ‘Chalo Sansad’ march also

The monsoon session of Parliament is going to start from July 20. On the same day, various organizations protesting at Jantar Mantar have also called for a peaceful march to Parliament. In the same sequence, Sonam Wangchuk has also appealed to the citizens of the country to reach Delhi in large numbers and raise their voice in a democratic manner.
