The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited PF interest to the accounts of approximately 35 crore subscribers by July 15. Official sources informed NDTV that a deadline of July 15 had been set for transferring the interest amount to all account holders, and the EPFO has largely completed this task. The interest transfer process was finalized after migrating 123 databases—previously spread across EPFO's regional centers—into a centralized national database. All EPF (Employees' Provident Fund) account holders have been credited with interest on their PF at a rate of 8.25 percent.
**Interest Credit Messages Received on Mobile Phones**
Many salaried individuals reported receiving messages on their mobile phones confirming the credit of the interest amount. While some received these messages prior to Thursday, July 15, others got them by the evening of July 15, and some even received notifications on the morning of July 16. Just last week, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya stated that the annual interest payout of ₹1.44 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26 would be auto-processed following the upgrade of the new portal; he added that the funds would be transferred to all EPF accounts by July 15, following verification by field officers.
**Interest Credited Unprecedentedly Early**
This marks the first time in EPFO's history that the interest amount has been credited by July 15. Until two years ago, the process of crediting interest to EPF accounts used to conclude as late as November. Even then, approximately 10 percent of account holders experienced delays in receiving their interest. Although the process accelerated last year, it was still completed only by the end of July; the interest credit process for over 80 percent of PF account holders was finalized in September (2025). According to officials, this process will accelerate further starting next year.
