Matt Reeves shared the first look at Robert Pattinson in The Batman 2 on social media on July 15. The short teaser shows Pattinson suited up as the Caped Crusader in the rain. Fans quickly noticed several changes to Batman’s suit compared to the 2022 original.
The teaser clip features Batman turning toward the camera with a police vehicle flashing behind him. Sharp-eyed viewers immediately pointed out that the cowl’s ears appear longer this time around. One user on X wrote that the longer ears “seem to have a slight outward curve” and give him “more of a devilish shape.”
Reeves himself confirmed the observation by responding to a fan’s post. The fan asked if the ears looked longer, and Reeves replied, writing, “You are not crazy” along with a bat emoji.
Other users also spotted that the cowl now covers more of the jaw area. One fan noted that the cape also appears to extend further down Batman’s chest.
The reactions have been overwhelmingly positive across social media platforms. One user declared that “the suit looks even better” and that “Pattinson is locked in as Batman.” The film currently has a release date of February 18, 2028.
Pattinson has also expressed excitement about the sequel during recent press appearances. He called the script “extraordinary” and teased that the film will be “very, very different” from the first. The actor added that the sequel is “taking some big swings.”
Colin Farrell, who plays Oswald “Oz” Cobb in the franchise, has praised the script as well. Farrell called it “a contemporary genre masterwork” on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He added that “Robert has got such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”
The film currently has a release date of February 18, 2028.
