Before the last session, Union Minister Amit Shah, Minister Kiren Rijiju had proposed that the seats should be increased by 50 percent in the constituencies restructuring. But no such changes were seen in the actual bill, he said.

It was said that a proposal to increase the seats by 50 percent will be brought in this meeting. It was also said that necessary changes would be made during the session by suspending the work for some time. However, it was also said that no such changes were actually made in the bill.

‘Ready for discussion if 50 percent seats are increasing’

Supriya Sule said, “We are ready to discuss constituency reorganization if the need arises. But if there is a proposal to increase the seats by 50 percent across the country, then it can be considered positively. If the constituencies are reorganized on the basis of population, we are opposed to such a system that injustice can be done to the states of South India. Therefore, the option of increasing the seats equally across the country instead of population-based reorganization may be more feasible.” Supriya Sule also said.
