Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly placed a hefty €50 million price tag on their young prospect Ibrahima Mbaye, as the talented winger has made clear his desire to leave the Parc des Princes during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 18-year-old is said to be looking for more consistent first-team opportunities after a challenging season in the French capital.
Mbaye keen on leaving PSG
Mbaye has reached a firm decision about his next career step. After spending much of last season on the sidelines, the youngster has realised that his playing time is unlikely to increase in the near future. With PSG continuing to invest heavily in attacking options, the pathway to a regular starting berth remains highly competitive for the academy product.
The Senegal international is now intent on finding a club where he can enjoy more minutes on the pitch. Last season, Mbaye featured in 30 matches across all competitions, accumulating 1,242 minutes of playtime. During that period, he netted three goals and provided two assists — all in Ligue 1. While PSG acknowledge his potential, they are reportedly open to a sale if a suitable financial offer is presented, seeing a move as beneficial for both parties.
PSG set €50m valuation
Although the French champions are prepared to sanction Mbaye’s departure, they are determined not to let him go for a discount. As per reports from L'Équipe, PSG are demanding between €40 million and €50 million for their academy graduate. This price range reflects both the two years remaining on Mbaye’s current contract and his growing reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.
The club’s position has been clearly communicated to all interested sides. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Borussia Dortmund have already initiated contact with PSG regarding a potential deal, signalling early interest from the Bundesliga giants.
Premier League clubs enter the chase
While Dortmund have built a strong reputation for developing young players, they are expected to face fierce competition from the Premier League. Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa are all said to be closely tracking Mbaye’s situation. The English clubs view his speed, dribbling ability, and flair as attributes that would adapt well to the intensity of the Premier League.
On the international front, Mbaye showcased his skillset during the recent World Cup campaign with Senegal. The teenager featured in four matches for the Teranga Lions, scoring in their 3-1 defeat to France. Senegal’s World Cup journey concluded in the round of 32 after a dramatic 3-2 extra-time loss to Belgium.
PSG continue major transfer activity
A potential €50 million sale of Mbaye would mark another lucrative deal for PSG following the recent transfer of Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan. The Portuguese striker’s move was valued at €74 million, providing the French club with additional flexibility in the transfer market while ensuring compliance with financial fair play regulations.
