About Satluj controversyBefore releasing on OTT, Satluj makers have been battling censorship hurdles, title changes, and film release delays. The film, which was initially titled ‘Panjab’ 95′, is a biographical drama based on the life and death of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who collected evidence into the extrajudicial killing and cremation of over 25,000 people in Punjab between 1984 and 1994.
The Central Board of Certification ordered 127 cuts in the film to grant certification. However, it was released on OTT in its uncut version, but was pulled down and banned in India.
Now, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) constituted a three-member review committee to examine the film’s content.
