Kamalini's ascent in cricket has been both rapid and steady. She began her journey representing Tamil Nadu in U15 cricket before advancing to the U19 team, where she secured a T20 title. She later joined the India U19 squad that won the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup in early 2025, finishing as the tournament's third-highest run-scorer. At just 16, she made history by signing a Women's Premier League (WPL) contract, becoming the youngest player to debut for the Mumbai Indians in the league.

Her strong performance in domestic cricket continued throughout 2025, leading to her first national call-up for the home T20I series against Sri Lanka, where she debuted internationally at the age of 17.
