Manchester United’s summer transfer window did not begin as planned, with several of their top midfield targets opting to join other clubs instead.
Despite weeks of speculation linking United to players such as Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Mateus Fernandes, none of those deals came to fruition at Old Trafford.
To make matters worse, a deal for Ederson collapsed after the midfielder failed a medical, prompting the club to withdraw from their agreement with Atalanta.
However, the past week has brought far more encouraging news for United supporters. The club successfully completed the signings of Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, and Youri Tielemans, marking a positive turn in their summer business.
Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos was the first arrival and has spoken enthusiastically about his move to Manchester United, expressing excitement at the opportunity to represent the club.
Fans will not have to wait long to see him on the pitch, as Santos did not participate in the World Cup and has already joined his new teammates for pre-season training.
The club has released footage showing the 22-year-old hard at work at Carrington, demonstrating his readiness for the upcoming campaign.
In the video, Santos is seen smiling broadly as he trains under the bright sunshine on the Carrington pitch, completing passing drills and practising ball control and turning techniques.
Manchester United fans have plenty of reasons to be enthusiastic about their new signing. Santos brings valuable experience, having previously played for Chelsea in the Champions League, and his time in the Premier League should help him adapt quickly to life at Old Trafford.
Additionally, his arrival is expected to enhance the team’s passing precision and technical stability in midfield, especially when paired with fellow new signing Youri Tielemans.
The Premier League’s official website describes Santos as “an effective ball winner” and a player who “excels” in ground duels, qualities that should make him a key contributor to Erik ten Hag’s side.
