One of Indian television's longest-running sitcoms, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah , is all set to complete 18 years on July 28. However, ahead of the milestone, rumours about Dilip Joshi , who plays Jethalal , leaving the show and his role being reduced have started doing the rounds. Dilip Joshi's character Jethalal is an integral part of TMKOC but recently reports about makers of Asit Kumarr Modi ’s show planning to reduce Dilip Joshi’s scenes have gone viral. The reports also claimed that the focus will allegedly shift to a newly introduced family. However, the makers of the show have now firmly denied these rumours.

The rumours picked up after the makers introduced a new Rajasthani family in the show. The family includes Ratan Singh Binjola, his wife Roopa, and their two children, Veer and Bansri. Actor Kuldeep Gaur plays the role of Ratan Singh Binjola, while Dharti Bhatt essays the character of his wife, Roopa. The younger members of the family are played by Akshay Sehrawat, who essays Veer, and Mahi Bhadra, who plays Bansri.

Rumours about Jethalal's role being reducedIn the show, Ratan owns a saree shop and many recent episodes have revolved around their lives, business and festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi. This led some viewers to believe that the makers were slowly giving more importance to their story than Jethalal's. The rumours grew stronger after Jethalal was missing from several recent episodes and even the Bagha-Bawri track received more screen time. This sparked fresh speculation that Dilip Joshi, who reportedly shoots for around 15 days a month and is one of the show's highest-paid actors, could have a reduced role in the coming episodes.

However, the makers have decided to end the speculations. The makers clarified that there are no plans to reduce Jethalal's role in the show and dismissed the reports as untrue.

Makers dismiss the rumoursA spokesperson from the show shared that the speculations doing the rounds are untrue and that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah continues to focus on Jethalal as one of its central characters. In fact, the current storyline of the show is also centered around Jethalal. The spokesperson further stated that introducing new characters and parallel storylines is a regular part of keeping the long-running sitcom engaging. The makers made it clear that Jethalal continues to be one of the show's main characters and there are no plans to reduce his importance.
