Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has come up with a wonderful scheme to make rural women self-reliant. Now ‘Goat Rearing Scheme’ is being started to economically empower the women of Self Help Groups (SHG) associated with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The objective of this scheme is to enable rural women to start their own self-employment sitting at home and develop their sources of income.
Women will get 6 goats, gift of 90% subsidy
Under this scheme, women of self-help groups active in the entire state including Kanpur will be given huge help from the government. Five goats and one male goat will be provided to the selected beneficiary women. The biggest relief is that the estimated cost of this entire unit has been fixed at Rs 60 thousand, out of which the government will bear 90 percent of the cost in the form of subsidy. The beneficiary woman will have to spend only 10 percent of the amount, which will give her an opportunity to start her business with less investment.
Government will not only provide animals but will also provide training and technical assistance
The government will not just spare the women by giving them goats, but the Animal Husbandry Department will also give them training in scientific goat rearing. In this training, women will be given complete information about techniques like balanced diet of goats, timely vaccination, prevention of diseases and modern reproductive management. Besides, the Animal Husbandry Department will also regularly monitor the health of these animals so that production improves and women’s earnings continue to increase.
Selection process and required documents
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the beneficiaries will be selected at the Gram Panchayat level. For this, meetings will be held in Gram Sabha and applications will be taken. Women who already have experience in goat rearing will be given preference. Keep in mind, women who have taken advantage of this scheme in the last three years will not be able to apply again.
To apply, women will have to carry Aadhar card, bank passbook and certificate of training if they have taken it. The most important thing is that the beneficiary woman will have to give an affidavit on a stamp paper of Rs 10, in which she will have to promise that she will run this unit successfully for at least three years. All applications will be verified by the Veterinary Officer.
Women entrepreneurship will get a new flight
The entire emphasis of the Yogi government is on promoting women entrepreneurship in rural areas. This scheme, run through self-help groups, will not only improve the economic condition of the families, but will also create a new identity for women in rural India. With a low-cost and high-profit business like animal husbandry, women will not only become self-reliant, but they will also be able to lay the foundation for a better future for their children.
