Importance of delaying pregnancy planning and egg freezing

Nowadays many women are postponing pregnancy plans due to education, career, marriage or health reasons. But as age increases, the reproductive capacity of women, i.e. fertility, gradually starts decreasing. Along with this, the number and quality of eggs is also affected. In such a situation, egg freezing has emerged as a new and effective option.

Egg Freezing Process and Tips

However, the process of egg freezing is not the same for all women. Therefore, it is important to know when egg freezing should be done, how many eggs should be frozen and how many cycles may be required for it. Fertility expert Dr. Mari Lee has shared information on this topic in a post on Instagram.

Dr. Mari Lee’s advice

How many eggs should you freeze?

According to Dr. Mari Lee, most women have already decided to freeze eggs before visiting a fertility specialist, but they do not know how many eggs they should freeze. This decision is taken keeping in mind age, health and the number of children she wants to have in the future.

Probability of egg freezing according to age

Under 5 years of age: The chances of having a baby by freezing 10 eggs at this age can be 71% to 75%. At this age both the quality and number of eggs are better.

Between 35 to 37 years: By freezing 10 eggs at this age the chances of having a baby can be 57% to 67%.

Between 38 to 40 years: The chances of having a baby when freezing 10 eggs at this age can range from 34% to 51%.

41 years or more: By freezing 10 eggs at this age, the chances of having a baby are 12% to 26%.

Does freezing more eggs ensure pregnancy?

Dr. Mari Lee said that freezing more eggs does not ensure that pregnancy will occur in the future. If you have correct information about your age, health and fertility, you can plan better for the future.
