England captain Harry Kane has rejected suggestions of tension within the squad ahead of Wednesday's World Cup semifinal against defending champions Argentina.
Questions about the team's unity followed England's hard-fought 2-1 victory over Norway, after head coach Thomas Tuchel admitted he was disappointed with the overall performance. Midfielder Jude Bellingham later appeared to brush off the criticism, prompting speculation about disagreements inside the camp.
Kane insisted those concerns are unfounded, explaining that emotions are often high immediately after a demanding match. He said the squad remains fully united, with players, coaches and staff working closely together throughout the tournament.
The striker also praised Tuchel's honest and passionate coaching style, saying the manager speaks openly rather than relying on scripted responses. Kane added that the team understands Tuchel's expectations and values his direct approach.
England's focus now shifts to Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, who has enjoyed another outstanding World Cup campaign. Defender Nico O'Reilly described the chance to face Messi as a rare opportunity, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford stressed that England must also be prepared for the strength of the entire Argentine squad.
The winner of the semifinal will advance to the World Cup final to face either France or Spain.
