Argentina also faced a tough challenge in the Round of 32. Cape Verde, playing for the first time in the FIFA World Cup, was forced to struggle till extra time. However, Argentina won 3–2 thanks to an own goal from Cape Verde. Argentina defeated Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the group stage. Along with France, they are the team of this tournament which has won all the matches so far.
