Tehran, July 11. Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei addressed the country for the first time after the death of his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and reiterated the demand for revenge against America and Israel. He said that revenge is not just a slogan but necessary.

Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei praised the ‘shocking, back-breaking and historic’ turnout at his father’s funeral and vowed to take revenge on ‘criminals and murderers’. He said in a message, I heartily appreciate the presence of millions of people in the cities and villages of Iran and Iraq, especially in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala and Mashhad.

Mojtaba Khamenei said, ‘We swear to avenge the sacred blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars.’ He mentioned that the list of attackers was prepared from highest to lowest level, which clearly indicates preparation for retaliatory action. US President Donald Trump has also said that Iran has prepared a kill list, in which his name is at the top.

‘We will follow the path shown by you’

Referring to his father Khamenei, Mojtaba said, ‘With moist eyes and heavy hearts, as we bid farewell to your mortal remains, we pledge to maintain your ideology and firmly follow the straight path shown by you. We will not be afraid of any difficulty. He declared, ‘Avenging the blood of our leaders and other martyrs who were martyred during the US-Israeli attacks against Iran is the demand of our country and it must be fulfilled.’

‘Now he will not die peacefully’

Those responsible for the attack will “go to their graves dreaming of a peaceful death in bed,” Mojtaba said. This promise does not depend on my presence or that of other officials. Whether we stay here or not, it will be completed and soon free people all over the world will become part of this sacred mission. Mojtaba also paid tribute to those martyred along with Ali Khamenei and said, ‘You are blessed because now you are the guest of those whom you served with full devotion.’

It is noteworthy that Iran’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in an American and Israeli attack on February 28 this year. Other members of Khamenei’s family were also injured in this attack. Now, almost four months later, his last rites were performed on July 9. Mojtaba Khamenei himself was also injured in this attack. After the death of Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba has been elected as the new religious leader of Iran. However, Mojtaba did not attend his father’s funeral due to security concerns.
