New Delhi: Nowadays many smartphones come with water-resistant technology, but this does not mean that they are completely safe from water, if too much water gets inside the phone, it may stop working. If your phone gets wet in the rain, there is no need to panic. The phone can be saved by adopting the right methods. But in such a situation, these 4 mistakes should not be made even by mistake.
1. Don’t panic if your phone gets wet and keep it on
If your phone gets wet in the rain, then first of all do not panic. Switch off the phone immediately, keeping the wet phone on can cause short circuit inside and the phone can get damaged further. After this, wipe the phone thoroughly with a soft and dry cloth. Let it dry naturally for some time. If you feel that there is moisture left inside the phone, you can wrap it in a foil or packet and keep it in a rice box for a few hours.
2. Do not put a wet phone on charging immediately
If your phone gets wet in the rain, do not make the mistake of putting it on charging immediately, doing so may cause a short circuit inside the phone and the phone may get damaged. First ensure that the phone is completely dry, only then charge it.
3. Be sure to check the charging port
After the phone gets wet, look carefully at the charging port, if water or moisture is visible in it, then wipe it gently with a clean and dry cloth. Only when the port is completely dry, put the phone on charging, this will keep the phone safe and reduce the risk of damage.
4. Do not dry the phone with a hair dryer or in strong sunlight
If your phone gets wet, do not use hair dryer or strong sunlight to dry it quickly. Excessive heat can damage the internal parts and battery of the phone. This can damage the battery, cause the phone to overheat, and in severe cases, increase the risk of fire or battery explosion. Always allow the phone to dry automatically at room temperature.
What to do?
Nowadays many smartphones come with IP67 or IP68 water-resistant rating. But this does not mean that you can use the phone without any hesitation in the rain. It is not advisable to make calls, type messages or watch videos during rain. By doing this, water can reach the screen, speaker or charging port and the phone may get damaged. If you go out daily for office, college or field work, then definitely use a good waterproof pouch or strong cover for your phone. Also, to avoid any loss, keep a backup of your important photos, videos and documents in the cloud or laptop.
