Hero MotoCorp Launches Its Biggest, Battery Equipped Electric Scooter: Vida VX2 Plus With 4.4 kWh

Hero MotoCorp has expanded the Vida VX2 electric scooter range with a new VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh variant. It has been introduced at an effective ex-showroom price of Rs 1,43,990 in New Delhi.

The quoted price includes the applicable PM E-Drive subsidy and current offers. It is therefore not the scooter’s undiscounted ex-showroom price and may vary by location or when the offers change.

The new version sits above the existing VX2 Plus 3.4 kWh, increasing the VX2 range to four main battery and performance configurations. Hero says the 4.4 kWh version will reach authorised dealerships across India by the end of July 2026.

The VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh uses two removable 2.2 kWh battery packs. Together, they provide a claimed Indian Driving Cycle range of 187 km. The existing 3.4 kWh VX2 Plus has a certified range of 146 km.

The 187 km figure comes from the IDC test cycle. Actual range will vary with speed, traffic, riding mode, payload, temperature and road conditions. Hero has not announced a separate certified real-world range figure for the new version.

The larger battery is paired with a 1 kW portable charger. Hero claims a 0-80 percent charging time of three hours and 30 minutes with this charger. A compatible DC fast charger can complete the same 0-80 percent charge in 65 minutes.

The two removable packs can also be charged away from the scooter, which is useful for homes and offices without a dedicated parking-area charging point.

The 4.4 kWh version is not simply a longer-range VX2 Plus. Its claimed top speed rises to 90 km/h, compared with 80 km/h for the 3.4 kWh model.

The electric motor develops 6 kW of peak power and 26 Nm of torque. Vida claims the scooter can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 3.1 seconds.

There are three riding modes: Eco, Ride and Sport. Eco limits the scooter to 45 km/h, while Ride permits speeds of up to 70 km/h. Sport mode allows the full 90 km/h top speed. A temporary Boost function is also available to assist during overtaking.

The equipment list includes a 4.3-inch colour TFT instrument display, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and over-the-air software updates.

Under-seat storage measures 27.2 litres. This corrects the previously quoted 33.2-litre figure, which applies to a different VX2 configuration and not the VX2 Plus.

Braking is handled by a combined braking system. The scooter also retains features such as regenerative braking, reverse mode and the two-way throttle used for controlled deceleration.

Vida says its charging network now covers more than 6,000 fast-charging points. The company also claims more than 700 sales and service touchpoints, although network coverage will remain concentrated in larger cities and major routes.

The VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh addresses one of the main concerns around electric scooters: the distance available between charges. The 187 km certified figure gives it considerably more claimed range than the 3.4 kWh model.

However, the Rs 1,43,990 figure is an effective launch price after subsidy and offers. The final on-road cost will also include insurance and any locally applicable charges.

Hero has also validated the scooter through a 12,111 km, 52-day journey from Bengaluru to Delhi through several cities. The ride was recognised by the Asia Book of Records as the longest journey completed by an electric scooter.
