Real Madrid are facing a significant issue this summer, as Los Blancos remain unsure whether Vinicius Junior will extend his contract with the club.

The Brazilian forward’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu has been under close examination for several months, with club president Florentino Perez prioritising his contract renewal before pursuing other targets such as Michael Olise.

Fresh doubts about Vinicius’s commitment emerged after he removed all visible references to Real Madrid from his social media profiles, creating speculation about his future in the Spanish capital.

According to reports from Defensa Central, Vinicius has changed his profile picture to a plain black image, erased mentions of Real Madrid from his biography, and unpinned all club-related posts from his social media page.

Currently, only farewell messages to teammates David Alaba and Dani Carvajal remain visible on his account, with recent references to the club extremely limited.

This is not the first time the Brazilian has made similar changes to his profile. In December last year, following a match against Sevilla, he removed Real Madrid mentions during a period when sections of the Santiago Bernabeu crowd had whistled him.

However, such actions may not necessarily suggest a deeper issue. Footballers frequently adjust their social media activity for personal or commercial reasons, and Vinicius has not publicly connected the move to his ongoing contract negotiations.

As it stands, the 23-year-old’s deal with Real Madrid runs until 2027. If no extension is agreed, the club faces a major decision, as allowing one of its most valuable assets to enter the final year of his contract could pose both financial and sporting risks.

Should Vinicius ultimately decide against continuing with the Spanish giants, Real Madrid would be compelled to seek a Galactico-level replacement such as Michael Olise — a move that could prove difficult while Vinicius’s wages remain on their books.

Although Perez is reportedly determined to keep the Brazilian winger at the Bernabeu, the president’s commitment alone may not be enough to secure a new deal.

While the removal of social media posts in isolation may not confirm any decision about his future, viewed alongside the ongoing contract discussions, the situation paints an uncertain picture.

Supporters of Real Madrid will be hoping for an official update soon, either from the club or from Vinicius himself, to clarify the situation.

For now, it remains to be seen whether the Brazilian star will sign a new long-term contract with the club or if the management will consider a potential transfer this summer.
