Scary news regarding Corona is coming out from one part of the country. Corona virus has once again started spreading in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh, causing panic in the health department. Recently, 8 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the district and the most worrying thing is that two people have lost their lives due to the infection. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the government has declared high alert not only in Kadapa but in the entire Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect.
Fear due to death of two patients
According to Health Department data, the virus has claimed two lives this time. A 52-year-old man from Rajampet area of Kadapa was admitted to the hospital after suffering from high fever and cough, where he died during treatment. At the same time, another 43-year-old patient, who was already suffering from health problems, also died in the ICU of the government hospital due to Covid-19. It is a matter of concern that now this infection has reached the medical staff also. A 25-year-old student of Cuddapah Medical College has also been kept in home isolation after he was found corona infected.
Sample sent to Pune for testing
In view of the sudden increase in cases in the district, the health department has come into ‘action mode’. Special rapid response teams have been deployed to stop the spread of the virus. Samples of about 40 people who came in contact with the infected have been taken, out of which the reports of 18 have come negative, while the results of others are still awaited. At present there are 8 active cases in the district. To know which variant the virus is and how fast it is spreading, the sample has been sent to the National Lab in Pune for genome sequencing.
Government implemented strict guidelines
District Incharge Minister of Andhra Pradesh Savita has given clear instructions to the district administration to prevent the infection from spreading outside Cuddapah. In view of this, the government has issued new guidelines:
- Mask mandatory: Wearing masks has again been made mandatory in hospitals, bus stands and crowded public places.
- Door-to-door survey: The health department will conduct door-to-door surveys to identify patients with fever, cough or difficulty in breathing and will immediately send the suspects to isolation centres.
- Contact Tracing: There will be mandatory testing of families who come in contact with infected patients.
- Sanitization: Cleaning and spraying of bleaching powder is being done on war footing in the affected areas.
All government and private hospitals in the state have been instructed to be fully prepared with ventilators, beds and medicines. However, officials have appealed to the general public not to be afraid, but to remain completely alert.
