An opportunity for Class 10 graduates to become Ayurveda doctors. Central Sanskrit University has released the NEET-PA 2026 notification. Full details on eligibility, age limit, and exam pattern are provided here.
There is great news for students aspiring to build a career in the field of Ayurveda. Central Sanskrit University has issued the notification for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Pre Ayurveda (NEET-PA) for the 2026-27 academic session. Under this new system, students who have passed Class 10 from any recognized board—and have studied Sanskrit—can enroll in the Pre-Ayurveda program. This paves the way for them to pursue BAMS studies and eventually become Ayurveda physicians.
Opportunity for Admission to Ayurveda Gurukuls Nationwide
This program, launched by the university, is approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). It will be conducted at various Ayurveda Gurukuls across the country affiliated with Central Sanskrit University. The initiative aims to effectively convey traditional knowledge to the new generation by integrating Sanskrit education with Ayurveda.
Curriculum Based on the National Education Policy and Indian Knowledge Tradition
Prof. Shrinivasa Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, stated that the curriculum has been designed keeping the National Education Policy (NEP) and the Indian Knowledge Tradition in mind. According to him, it is relatively easier for students who study Sanskrit to grasp the fundamental texts, Samhitas, and classical concepts of Ayurveda. The Gurukul-based teaching model will also help gain new international recognition for the traditional authenticity of Ayurveda.
Application Process Begins in the Third Week of July
According to Prof. Pawan Kumar, the university’s Controller of Examinations, the online application process for NEET-PA will commence in the third week of July. The entrance exam is scheduled to be held in the last week of August or the first week of September. The examination will take place at designated centers across the country.
The Entire Academic Program Will Be Completed in Seven and a Half Years
This integrated curriculum will span a total of seven and a half years. The program allocates the first two years to a Pre-Ayurveda Gurukul program. This is followed by a four-and-a-half-year BAMS course. Finally, a mandatory one-year internship must be completed, after which students can pursue a career in the field of Ayurvedic medicine.
Who can apply?
Candidates applying for this program must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board. A minimum of 50% marks is required for General category candidates, while a minimum of 40% marks is mandatory for candidates belonging to reserved categories.
No age relaxation for any category
To be eligible for admission, candidates must be between 15 and 25 years of age as of December 31st. The university has clarified that there is no provision for age relaxation for candidates of any category.
NEET-PA Entrance Exam Format
The NEET-PA exam will be conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. Candidates will have 150 minutes (two and a half hours) to complete the question paper. The exam will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying one mark. There will be no negative marking.
