England produced a dominant all-round display to defeat India by 56 runs in the fifth and final T20 International at The Rose Bowl on Saturday, wrapping up the five-match series with a convincing 4-0 triumph.
A sensational 131 from former captain Jos Buttler and an unbeaten 95 by skipper Harry Brook laid the foundation for England's imposing total of 257/3, their highest score of the series.
After losing an early wicket, Buttler and Brook took complete control of the innings with a breathtaking 233-run partnership for the second wicket. Buttler smashed 131 off just 64 balls, hitting 12 fours and eight sixes, while Brook remained unbeaten on 95 from 45 deliveries, striking four boundaries and eight maximums.
Chasing a daunting target of 258, India suffered an early setback when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for three. Sanju Samson (27 off 14) and Ishan Kishan attempted to rebuild the innings, with Kishan leading the charge through a brisk 56 off 35 balls.
Captain Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 28 from 16 deliveries, while Tilak Varma played an entertaining knock of 53 off just 25 balls, smashing three fours and four sixes. Despite the aggressive batting, India struggled to keep pace with the soaring required run rate.
Shivam Dube scored 14, Suryansh Shedge managed seven and Axar Patel added only three as wickets continued to fall. India eventually finished on 201/8 in their allotted 20 overs, handing England a comprehensive 56-run victory.
Sam Curran starred with the ball for the hosts, claiming 3/36, while Adil Rashid picked up 2/24. Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue and Liam Dawson also chipped in with a wicket each.
For India, Shivam Dube was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Prasidh Krishna claimed one. Arshdeep Singh was India's most economical bowler, conceding just 33 runs in his four-over spell.
Jos Buttler was named Player of the Match for his explosive century as England completed a clean and commanding 4-0 series victory, finishing the T20I campaign in emphatic fashion.
