Agartala, July 12: Tripura has successfully sent another shipment of organic agricultural products to Dubai, furthering the state's ambition to enhance the global presence of its agricultural offerings and improve market opportunities for local farmers.
The export consignment was officially launched by Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday. These products will be distributed throughout Gulf nations via Lulu Retail, a prominent retail chain within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
This shipment includes 1,300 organic scented lemons, 182 kg of organic Kalikhasa aromatic rice, and 350 Queen pineapples, all sourced from farmer producer organizations across Tripura.
As per the minister, the organic scented lemons were provided by the Baramura Farmer Producer Company located in Khowai district, the Kalikhasa aromatic rice was obtained from the Trishna Farmer Producer Company in South Tripura, and the Queen pineapples were sourced from the Khabaksa Farmer Producer Company in Gomati district.
Minister Nath expressed pride in this export, stating that the inclusion of Tripura's organic products in Lulu Retail's international supply chain highlights the increasing global interest in its high-quality agricultural goods.
He remarked, "This accomplishment showcases the commitment of our farmers and the ongoing efforts of our farmer producer companies in cultivating top-notch organic crops. It will further solidify Tripura's reputation as a dependable exporter of organic products."
The minister also mentioned that this latest shipment follows a recent export of 10,000 kg of organic dried bird's eye chili to Germany, marking another significant step in the state's growing agricultural export journey.
He emphasized that the state government is actively encouraging organic farming by prioritizing value addition, quality certification, branding, and establishing stronger market connections to boost the export potential of its agricultural products.
