England finished a pretty dominant 4-0 series sweep over India in the fifth and final T20I and just like that ended everything with a convincing 56-run win . It also got Harry Brook’s lot up to No.1 in the ICC T20I rankings, swapping places with India , so that was kind of a big jump. England looked sharper all the way through too , they outclassed the reigning T20 World Cup champions across the series and then wrapped the last match in style.
Right after the toss , India captain Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first. The Men in Blue made two changes and brought in Sanju Samson and Suryansh Shedge , replacing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Washington Sundar. England only tweaked one thing , Liam Dawson came back into the XI taking Rehan Ahmed’s spot.
England started quickly, then Prasidh Krishna struck and dismissed Phil Salt early. After that though, Harry Brook and Jos Buttler basically took the reins, and the innings turned into an explosive kind of showcase. Brook reached his half-century in just 19 balls, while Buttler got to his mark in 34 deliveries , both of them moving with that calm kind of menace.
Buttler kept rolling with that brilliant kind of batting and got to his hundred in only 51 balls, yes. Later on he pushed on and made 131 off 64 deliveries, genuinely smashing 12 fours, and eight sixes too. Brook came close, miss by a whisker, with 95 off 45 balls, four fours plus eight sixes along the way. Together that stand really carried England to 257/3, which is their best ever T20I total versus India.
For India’s chase, they went at it early through Sanju Samson, but Abhishek Sharma went back pretty quickly after making just three runs. Samson seemed to be set and in good rhythm, he struck 27 off 14 balls before his wicket fell, and he couldn’t quite turn that promising opening into something really huge.
Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer then kind of added 55 runs in just 30 deliveries, to keep India in the contest, somehow. The Indian captain made a quick 28 off 16 balls before getting dismissed, and that was that. Kishan got to his half century in 27 balls and then he finished on 56 runs, before returning back to the pavilion.

Harry Brook capped off a memorable series by leading England to a comprehensive win, and he also took home the Player of the Series award for his standout displays. Really pleased with the result, the England captain said the side deserved to celebrate a remarkable series triumph.
Harry Brook stated: "We had a lot of fun. Ran well, hit boundaries and complemented each other. We were just trying to get ourselves to get in the best position we could. Cricket is a simple game we complicate. Just watched the ball and played the best shot for it. I'm striking the ball nicely. We've got ourselves to World No. 1, which was a game after a couple of games. All boys are delighted and we deserve to celebrate."
