India’s women’s compound team settled for a silver medal at the Archery World Cup Stage 4 in Madrid on Saturday after Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi went down 228-232 to Colombia in the final.

The silver adds to India’s impressive campaign in the 2026 Archery World Cup circuit.

Before Madrid, Indian archers had already claimed five medals, four gold and one bronze, across the first three stages, underlining the country’s strong run heading into the season’s final qualifying event.

India falls short against Colombia

The Indian trio struggled for consistency in the final as Colombia capitalised on a strong start to remain in control throughout the contest.

Seventeen-year-old Prithika Pradeep emerged as India’s standout performer, shooting six 10s, including two perfect ends. However, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, usually India’s most reliable compound archer, managed three 10s from her eight arrows as India struggled to match Colombia’s scoring.

Alejandra Usquiano led Colombia’s charge with eight consecutive 10s to give her side an early advantage. Although former world champion Sara Lopez had an inconsistent outing, Usquiano’s accuracy ensured Colombia maintained control of the match.

India needed three perfect 10s with their final arrows to force a tie. Jyothi and Prithika delivered, but Chikitha’s final arrow landed in the eight-ring, allowing Colombia to seal a 232-228 victory and claim the gold medal.
