CBI is investigating the case
The Karur stampede took place on September 27, 2025, during a rally of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay, in which 41 people were killed and several others were injured. In October 2025, the Supreme Court had transferred the investigation from the state-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), emphasizing the need for an independent and impartial investigation.
