New Delhi. Monsoon, which provides relief from the heat, can cause many health problems in children. Experts say that sudden drop in temperature, high humidity and stagnant water after rains cause many types of air, water and mosquito borne diseases, which affect children of all ages. “Diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya and high fever are associated with severe body aches, rashes, vomiting and stomach pain. And serious symptoms like stomach ache, persistent vomiting and bleeding in dengue cases require immediate medical attention,” says Dr Prashant Moralwar, consultant pediatrician at Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, as reported by Indian Express.com.
Contaminated food and water can also cause infections spread by mosquitoes and insects. “Food and water-borne diseases also cause dehydration in infants and children,” said Dr. Moralwar.

The common cold and flu cause fatigue, fever, and body aches, usually lasting less than a week. According to the doctor, a child who is suffering from flu should be given warm liquids like soup, and should take adequate rest. He should not come in close contact with other children. Apart from this, it is important to wash hands frequently and cover the mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing. It has also been observed that due to increasing moisture and fungus, allergy and asthma can occur in children.
