Chandigarh: After the Delhi High Command’s tough stance on the ruckus in Punjab Congress, the sounds of rebellion have slowed down. The group of angry leaders now seems to be completely on the back foot. Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, after holding an important meeting with his supporters in Chandigarh, clearly said that his main objective is to keep the party united. Channi has given a clear indication that whatever strategy the high command decides, all the leaders will together support it.

Punjab’s game changed with one call from Priyanka Gandhi

In fact, just before this entire meeting, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi herself had a long talk on phone with Charanjit Singh Channi. Only after receiving a strong and clear message from Priyanka, Channi immediately called a meeting of his supporters.
On the other hand, Punjab’s in-charge for damage control Bhupesh Baghel himself reached the house of former minister Brahm Mahendra to convince him. Baghel claims that the high command will not change its decisions, but all the angry leaders of Punjab Congress will be seen together on the stage very soon.

Pargat Singh’s target on the new team of high command

The attitude of Pargat Singh, the most important strategist and MLA of Channi group, is still a bit bitter. He said in clear words that no new experiment could be done with Punjab in this critical time. His direct target was on the three new acting state presidents recently imposed by the high command.

Pargat Singh also added that differences of opinion are not a crime in a democracy and he has conveyed his views to the high command. At present, the law and order of Punjab has completely collapsed under the rule of Aam Aadmi Party government, hence the only aim of all Congressmen is to stop AAP and BJP by forgetting their mutual differences.

BJP MP Tarun Chugh took a dig

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh has taken a dig at this drama of Punjab Congress. Chugh described Bhupesh Baghel’s statement as the biggest example of Congress’s dictatorship and flattery. Making a scathing attack, he said that the Gandhi-Nehru family has been playing with Punjab for the last seven decades. Congress has always crushed the sentiments of the people of Punjab. Be it the Sikh riots of 1984, the water dispute or the Chandigarh issue, Congress has always had a history of creating hurdles in the development of Punjab.
