Why was the date of birth asked for earlier?
Earlier, WhatsApp had asked some beta users to enter their year of birth. According to the company, its purpose was to comply with the age verification rules applicable in some countries (WhatsApp Update). This information is not visible to other users and cannot be changed once entered.
When will the feature be available now?
The Birthday Reminder feature is currently in development in Android beta version 2.26.27.3. The company has not yet announced its official launch date. Therefore, it is not clear when this feature will reach all users.
