Manchester United are actively progressing in the summer transfer market as they establish a deadline for Marcus Rashford’s potential move while finalising deals for Ederson and Andrey Santos.

Rashford’s future remains uncertain after Barcelona opted not to activate their £26 million option to buy the England forward following his season-long loan at Camp Nou. Instead, the LaLiga champions turned their attention to Anthony Gordon, completing a £70 million transfer from Newcastle United.

Although Rashford is set to return to Old Trafford, it appears unlikely that he will feature in Michael Carrick’s plans for the upcoming season after declaring his intention to leave the club. The 28-year-old has, however, insisted that any decision regarding his next destination will wait until after the World Cup.

Rashford stated, “I made it clear to everyone involved before the World Cup that I wanted the transfer settled beforehand. If it wasn’t, then it would have to wait until after. I want to stay completely focused on the tournament. We’re fighting for something special.”

According to reports from The Sun, Manchester United are targeting a sale of Rashford before their pre-season training camp begins in Dublin on August 8. The club is reportedly unwilling to sanction another season-long loan move for the forward, with West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville being considered as a possible replacement.

Meanwhile, Ederson is on the verge of becoming Manchester United’s first summer signing after the club agreed a £35 million fee, plus £3.8 million in add-ons, with Atalanta ahead of the World Cup. The midfielder is expected to sign a four-year contract, though the completion of the deal was delayed until Brazil’s World Cup campaign concluded.

With Brazil now eliminated in the round of 16 by Norway, Ederson has been cleared to travel to England this week for his medical and to sign a four-year contract with the Red Devils.

In addition, Standard Sport reports that Manchester United have had a £48 million bid accepted by Chelsea for Andrey Santos, which includes a further £2 million in performance-related add-ons considered easily achievable.
