Shortcomings of Dhritarashtra in Mahabharata
Dhritarashtra's Fatal Flaws: Mahabharata is that great text, in which stories of many characters and their lives are found. Among all these characters, the name of a major character is Dhritarashtra. Dhritarashtra's birth, life and then death, all three are considered mysterious. Dhritarashtra was the king of Hastinapur. It is believed that he did many such things, which laid the foundation of the Mahabharata war that took place at the end of Dwaparayuga.
Due to the actions of Dhritarashtra, he and his 100 sons were destroyed. In Mahabharata, Dhritarashtra is also considered one of the biggest responsible for the war, because Dhritarashtra was sitting on the throne of Hastinapur and if he had wanted, he could have stopped the destruction caused by this great war, but he allowed his dynasty to be destroyed. It would not be wrong to say that he had become blind not only in his eyes but also in his mind and intellect.
Imprisoning Gandhari's family
Dhritarashtra was married to Gandhari, the princess of Gandhara country, but astrologers had said that Gandhari's first marriage would be inauspicious. Therefore, first Gandhari was married to a goat. Later she was sacrificed and then she was married to Dhritarashtra. When Dhritarashtra came to know about this fraud in the marriage, he imprisoned Gandhari's entire family.
Gandhari's family was given very little food in the prison, due to which each member of his family started dying. In the end Shakuni was saved and he decided to destroy the entire Hastinapura. Since childhood, he sowed seeds of poison in Duryodhana's mind regarding the Pandavas, but Dhritarashtra never ordered him to leave Hastinapur.
Supporting Duryodhana on every issue out of love for his son.
During the Mahabharata period, Duryodhana was the biggest symbol of Ardham, but Maharaj Dhritarashtra was gripped by the love of his son, due to which he never stopped Duryodhana's injustice. If he had wanted, he could have avoided the great war of Mahabharata, but his attachment to his son had prevented him from doing so. By supporting Duryodhana, he allowed the destruction of the entire dynasty.
Remaining silent during the disrobing of Draupadi
The disrobing of Draupadi is considered one of the biggest events of Mahabharata. This is considered to be the reason which ignited the fire of the Mahabharata war. Dhritarashtra remained silent during the disrobing of Draupadi, which was his biggest mistake.
support wrongdoing
Dhritarashtra knew very well that Shakuni and Duryodhana were doing Ardham, but then he supported both of them. He ignored the words of knowledgeable people like Grandfather Bhishma, Guru Dronacharya and Vidur.
