New Delhi: The month of Sawan is considered the most sacred for the worship of Lord Shiva. Throughout this month, crowds of devotees gather in Shiva temples and devotees of Shiva obtain the blessings of Mahadev by fasting, Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek. Even in the year 2026, devotees are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Sawan. When will Sawan 2026 start?
According to the Hindu calendar, the month of Shravan starts from the next day of Guru Purnima. In the year 2026, Sawan will start from 30th July (Thursday) and will end on 28th August (Friday) on the day of Rakshabandhan. There will be a tradition of special worship of Lord Shiva throughout the month.
How many Mondays will there be in Saavan 2026?
This time there will be a total of 4 Shravani Mondays in Sawan. Shiva devotees will observe fast these days and perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva.

Religious importance of Sawan
According to religious beliefs, Mother Parvati had performed rigorous penance in the month of Sawan to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva accepted her as his better half. For this reason the month of Sawan is considered very auspicious for the worship of Shiva and Parvati.
According to another belief, Lord Shiva had kept the Halahal poison that came out of the churning of the ocean in his throat. To cool down the heat of the poison, the gods offered water to him. Since then, the tradition of offering water, milk and belpatra on Shivalinga has been going on during Sawan.
How to worship Shiva in Saavan?
During Sawan, take bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and meditate on Lord Shiva. Offer water, belpatra, datura, aak and white flowers on Shivalinga. puja time "Om Namah Shivay" Or chanting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is considered auspicious. By observing fast on Monday, it is believed that wishes will be fulfilled and happiness and prosperity will come in the family.
Vastu Remedy of Sawan
According to Vastu Shastra, it is considered auspicious to keep Ganga water in the Ishaan corner (north-east direction) of the house in Saavan. Lighting a cow ghee lamp at the main entrance every Monday removes negative energy from the house and brings happiness, peace and prosperity.
