Today is a very special day for the teachers of Uttar Pradesh and their families. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is going to formally launch the ‘Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme’ from Varanasi today, Wednesday, July 8. The main objective of this ambitious scheme of the state government is to provide better health facilities to the teachers of the Basic and Secondary Education Department and their dependents. Now teachers will not have to spend heavily from their own pockets for the treatment of serious diseases, rather they will get the benefit of cashless treatment on the lines of Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
How will you get the benefits of the scheme?
To make this scheme completely transparent, the government has chosen the digital path. Archana Verma, CEO of SACHIS, said that a special online portal has been developed for this. Beneficiary teachers will have to complete the entire process of registration, verification and approval digitally on this portal. The portal for the Basic Education Department has already been activated, on which till now more than 7.89 lakh beneficiaries have registered their information. After verification at the Block Education Officer (BEO) and District Basic Education Officer (BSA) level, the data will be linked to the National Health Authority’s system. After this, teachers will be able to download their digital health card by completing Aadhaar-based e-KYC.
Data collection portal has also been started for teachers of Secondary Education Department from July 3. Here, after verification by the Principal and approval by the District School Inspector (DIOS), teachers will be able to avail this facility.
Highlights and budget of the plan
Yogi government has set a big budget for this scheme. The main points of the scheme are as follows:
- Investment worth crores: The state government will spend about Rs 447 crore every year on this scheme.
- No premium burden: Teachers need not worry, because the government itself will pay the premium of Rs 3000 per teacher every year.
- Protection up to Rs 5 lakh: Cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per family will be available in listed government and private hospitals.
- Treatment Package: The scheme includes around 1900 treatment packages, in which treatment for serious diseases like cancer, heart disease, kidney and complex surgeries will be free.
- comprehensive range: This facility is not limited to teachers only, but also includes families of cooks and other departmental personnel.
Treatment will be available anywhere in the country
The most important thing is that these beneficiaries will be provided health services by connecting them to the platform of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. This means that teachers of UP will be able to go to any hospital listed under the Ayushman Bharat scheme across the country and get their cashless treatment. The government is now preparing to further expand the scope of this scheme. Soon a separate portal will also be launched for teachers and employees of the Higher Education Department, so that no eligible person is deprived of this health protection cover.
