New Delhi : In many states of the country for the past few days heavy rain seems to be happening. Due to this rain, life is also being disrupted. Meanwhile, landslides occurred in Wayanad due to heavy rains. 3 people have died and 8 people have been injured. Many others are reported to be trapped under the debris. The accident took place near the Meenakshi bridge in Kalladi, where the Malappuram-Wayanad tunnel project is under construction.
The soil was removed from the tunnel and stored outside. The rain caused the soil to collapse, uprooting the trees. CCTV footage of the accident has emerged, showing a tanker being swept away by a powerful wave of debris from the tunnel. The tunnel is approximately 8.17 km long and has cost approximately Rs 2,100-2,200 crore. Two years ago, 3 landslides occurred in Wayanad. Also, cloudburst caused flooding in the higher reaches of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. Houses and shops were damaged by rocks and debris that fell from the mountain. Many vehicles on the roads were buried under the debris.
