The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has completed a major task of strengthening its database and upgrading the software. The purpose of this change is to provide better service to account holders (members) and employers and to make their experience easier.
According to an official announcement, ‘The process of completely stabilizing the system after software migration is underway. To ensure the accuracy and security of data during the initial two weeks, all claims and service requests will be investigated in a slow and phased manner with additional verification and validation steps.
Why can EPF claim take more time?
EPFO has already made it clear that some services may take a little more time than usual in the initial days until things are completely set up in the new system. In this era of making the system strong and secure, all claims and requests are being processed gradually under a fixed process. The organization says that some new verification and validation checks have been added to ensure that there are no discrepancies in the records after data migration.
During this transition, members and employers may face delays in EPF claims and some online services. In view of this, EPFO has appealed to the users not to try to login to the portal again and again during peak hours (when the traffic is high) nor to submit the same request again and again.
Are EPFO services available on UMANG app?
According to a notification issued on the UMANG app, ‘Due to the scheduled migration (system upgrade) work being done by the department, EPFO services are currently not available on the app, which will start again soon. However, the main member portal of EPFO is now fully functional. Members can avail the services for their needs by directly visiting the EPFO member portal.
EPFO made changes in the unified member portal
After almost a week of system upgrade work, EPFO’s Unified Member Portal is back live with a new look and several changes. This time the biggest change has been made that now the facility of UAN activation and direct UAN allotment has been removed from this portal. Now these services have been shifted to UMANG app, where this work can be done through Aadhaar-based face authentication.
Apart from this, the process of UAN retrieval has been made much easier than before on the newly upgraded portal. At the same time, important services like death claim (claim after the death of the depositor) will remain available on the EPFO portal as before.
What is UMANG App?
UMANG (UMANG – Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app is an official digital platform of the government. With its help, people can avail all the important digital services of the government including EPFO directly on their smartphones without visiting offices.
