Historic agreement on Sardar Sarovar project in the presence of Amit Shah, years old dispute between 4 states including MP resolved

The years-long dispute between Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan regarding the expenditure and pending payment of Sardar Sarovar Project is now on the verge of ending. This historic agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil in New Delhi. Under this agreement, one-time settlement of pending financial obligations to the project will be made.

This historic agreement was signed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Senior officials of the four states and the central government were present in the meeting.

Years old dispute now on the verge of ending

Let us tell you that this dispute was going on for a long time regarding the pending payment of expenses of Sardar Sarovar Project. But now with the consent of all the parties, it has been decided to resolve this issue through one-time settlement. After this decision, the way has been cleared for a permanent solution to the financial dispute to the project.

Amit Shah said – example of cooperative federalism

After this decision, the reaction of the Union Home Minister has also come to the fore. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to strengthen water security and promote cooperative federalism. He said that the long pending Narmada Award payment dispute between the four states has been resolved amicably, which is an excellent example of mutual cooperation between the states.

Many states benefited from the project

Amit Shah further said that Sardar Sarovar Project has especially provided huge benefits to Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan in the form of water and electricity. He said that in Rajasthan, where Narmada water has reached, there has been a lot of change in both the condition of farmers and the value of land.

Appeal to resolve disputes in national interest

The Home Minister said that water disputes should be resolved keeping in mind the national interest. He said that the development of any state ultimately contributes to the development of the entire country and other states also benefit from the prosperity of the neighboring state. He also mentioned the recent resolution of Haryana-Rajasthan water dispute and other projects and called it the success of cooperative federalism.
