Google Storage: If you also use Android smartphone then this information is important for you. Let us tell you that Google has implemented a major change in its Android Backup policy from July 7. In which till now the backup done in your phone was not included in the free storage limit of Google account but under the new policy this will not happen. It is being said that now the backup of Android device, which includes call history, SMS, app data, device settings and other important information, will directly count towards the 15GB free cloud storage of your Google account. Which simply means that now the storage can be filled faster than before.

Now which things will count as storage?

For your information, let us tell you that earlier Google used to add only the pictures and videos uploaded on Google Photos to the storage limit. But after the new policy, almost the entire data of Google Android Backup will also be included in this storage. At the same time, this change may have more impact on those users who have been using the same Google account for a long time and regularly take backup of the phone. Such users may also need to purchase additional storage in the future.

Users will get more control

It is seen that Google has also made the backup system smarter with this update. In which now users will be able to use on-off toggles for different categories like SMS and MMS messages, call history and device settings. Which will be directly for those people who do not want to backup any specific data, in such a situation they can easily turn it off. All these new options will be visible in the Google Backup Settings of the phone. With this, users will be able to manage their storage in a better way.

What did Google say?

It is being told that after this change, many users will be worried about filling up the 15GB storage quickly, but Google says that its impact will be very limited. Regarding which the company spokesperson said, ‘We have updated our policy so that now all Android backup data is counted in Google account storage. We expect this to add only 40MB on average.” In such a situation, if your Google storage is already almost full, it would be wise to review the backup settings and delete non-essential data. If you need more storage, Google One or Google AI plans can also be an option.
