Business Calling: Due to the increasing number of fake calls and spam, people are avoiding calls from unknown numbers. Truecaller's 2026 report also reveals a decline in trust in business calls.
79% of people don't answer unknown business calls, here's why
Truecaller Report 2026: Nowadays, most people ignore a call from an unknown number or think twice before picking it up. This isn't just one or two people, but many do. Due to the constant increase in fake calls, online fraud, and spam, people are becoming wary of trusting unknown numbers. This is why people are now hesitant to even answer business calls. Recently, Truecaller's report, "The State of Business Calling 2026," revealed many shocking statistics related to this.
What does the report say?
Truecaller, in collaboration with Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) and research agency Kantar, has released "The State of Business Calling 2026" report. According to this new report, approximately 79% of people in India avoid answering business calls from unknown numbers. The report states that this is due to spam and fraudulent calls, which are significantly eroding people's trust. Despite this, 76% of people still prefer voice calls over email, SMS, and chat.
A survey of over 500 B2B companies and 1,000 consumers across 17 cities found that people prioritize calls that contain relevant information and identify the caller. However, they are reluctant to receive calls from unknown numbers.
Why don't people pick up business calls?
The increasing number of spam and fraudulent calls is impacting not only consumers but also legitimate companies. People often avoid important business calls because they don't recognize the caller. However, according to a survey, approximately 49% of consumers said they would be willing to receive a business call if they received a timely callback and the caller's identity was clear.
