Mosquito Bite Reasons: Mosquitoes bite some people more than others. Factors such as carbon dioxide, body heat, sweat, blood type, and skin bacteria are responsible for this.

Causes of mosquito bites

Mosquito Bite Reasons: Many people often complain that mosquitoes bite only one or two people in a room. They are often at a loss as to why this happens to them. The biggest reason behind this is the odor emanating from our breath and body. Let's learn more about this.

When we exhale, carbon dioxide gas is released. Mosquitoes can smell this gas from a distance and fly in that direction. People who are exercising or doing strenuous work exhale more carbon dioxide than usual, so mosquitoes find them quickly. Furthermore, certain chemicals in our skin and sweat, such as lactic acid and ammonia, also attract mosquitoes. Body heat is also a major factor, as mosquitoes are easily drawn to warm objects.

Genes and blood group also affect

Scientists believe that who gets bitten by mosquitoes more depends to some extent on our genes. A research has found 285 such genetic markers that play a role in determining how many times a person gets bitten by mosquitoes and how much itching there will be after the bite. An interesting thing came out from this: about 37.5% of people admitted that mosquitoes bite them more than others and the effect of blood group has also been seen in this. According to a study, mosquitoes sit on people with O blood group almost twice as often as those with A blood group, while people with B group remained in between.

The connection between skin bacteria and pregnancy

According to experts, the bacteria on our skin also play a major role in attracting mosquitoes. These bacteria break down sweat and produce a specific odor, and some people have bacteria on their skin that mosquitoes prefer. This is why, even within the same family, some people are bitten by mosquitoes more often and others less often. They also explain that pregnant women are more likely to be bitten by mosquitoes because their body temperature rises slightly during pregnancy and more carbon dioxide is exhaled.
