England have been handed a significant injury boost before their World Cup quarter-final encounter with Norway scheduled for Saturday.

As reported by the Telegraph, Reece James could make his return to the national squad for the highly anticipated quarter-final clash at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

James sustained a hamstring injury during the goalless draw with Ghana, which forced him to sit out the following fixtures against Panama, DR Congo, and Mexico.

England’s defensive concerns deepened after Jarell Quansah received a red card in Sunday’s victory over Mexico, ruling him out of the upcoming contest in Florida.

Although James has not yet resumed full training, there is growing optimism that he may recover in time to take part in the match against Norway.

Manager Thomas Tuchel still has Ezri Konsa and Djed Spence as available defensive options, but James’s return would provide a considerable lift thanks to his strength and defensive capabilities.

England enter the quarter-final with high morale following their thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico at the Aztec Stadium.

A superb double from Jude Bellingham put the Three Lions in charge early on, though the game became tense after Quansah’s second-half dismissal.

Harry Kane extended the lead with a successful penalty before conceding one himself, which Raul Jimenez duly converted.

Despite Mexico’s late surge for an equaliser, England’s solid defence held firm to secure a memorable victory.
