Nizamabad: A murder investigation has revealed what police describe as a carefully planned conspiracy involving a woman, her alleged lover and another man to kill her husband after a failed first attempt. The shocking case was reported from Telangana’s Nizamabad district.
According to investigators, the victim, identified as Prashant, initially survived an alleged attempt on his life after being pushed from the rooftop of his house. Police claim he was later killed while receiving treatment in hospital.
Police said Prashant and his wife Sandhya had been facing marital disputes because of her extramarital relationship. Investigators believe Sandhya and her lover Anil considered Prashant an obstacle and planned to eliminate him.
According to the police investigation, they allegedly made Prashant heavily intoxicated before Anil and another accused, Venkat Sai, assaulted him and pushed him from the roof.
Despite suffering serious injuries, Prashant survived the fall. Police said the accused allegedly convinced him that he had accidentally fallen while drunk before taking him to hospital for treatment.
Investigators allege the conspiracy continued inside the hospital.
Police claim Sandhya, who works as a nurse at a private hospital, used her medical knowledge to inject toilet cleaning liquid into Prashant’s intravenous (IV) line while he was undergoing treatment. Investigators suspect the toxic substance caused his death.
The case came to light after Prashant’s mother became suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his death and lodged a police complaint on July 1.
During questioning, police claimed they uncovered the alleged conspiracy. Investigators said Venkat Sai admitted to helping push the victim from the rooftop during the first murder attempt.
Sandhya, Anil and Venkat Sai have all been arrested and produced before a court, which has remanded them to judicial custody.
Police said forensic examinations are underway and the investigation is continuing to establish the full sequence of events and gather further evidence.
